Session 3 Viewer Guide
They have given Gideon a new name: Jerubbaal means the "Baal Fighter"
You are not the same person you used to be.
God is at work in you. The fact that you are working on this study means that God is at work in you. This means that he is changing bits of who you are. Keep that in mind as you move forward and deal with your 'baggage'. You aren't the same as you were before so do not attach your 'baggage' the same way.
See below for proof in the scripture.
Philippians 1:6
'being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.'
Challenge: Keep a record of the work God has been doing.
Write it down. Say a prayer of thanks. Keep a list of the 'God Moments'. If you are anything like me you will attempt to keep a record of all of these moments in a little notebook, but you will end up with 'moments' written on scraps of paper everywhere. This is OK, think of it as 'Blessing Confetti' How ever you do it, please take the time to do it. When you are able to read back on those times you will feel blessed.
Judges 7:1
Then Jerubaal ( that is Gideon) and all the people who were with him rose early and camped beside the spring of Harod. And the camp of Midian was on the North side of them by the hill of Moreh in the valley.
Harod means to tremble, fear.
How interesting that Gideon chose to ready his troops next to a seemingly fertile spring that happened to be named Fear? Gideon was still scared. His troops understood that the name of this spring was Harod meaning fear. Priscilla begs us to consider all things and decisions as purposeful. There are no coincidences. He went to the spring of Harod because in his heart he was scared. He could have gone anywhere else and it would not have damaged the confidence of his troops like this.
Environment matters.
Posture is everything.
How you start at the beginning has every bearing on how it's going to finish in the end.
Where you choose to stand determines the vantage point from which you take in the enemy's attacks on your life.
Start all things with confidence in the fact the God has His hand on what you are doing. He may not bless you to earthly victory but He is going to bless you through this. Keep that in mind. Remember that just because He is faithful does not mean that He approves.
You have too many for Me to give Midian into your hand.
What? The Israelites were outnumbered 4 to 1. God still felt that if they were given victory that they may be arrogant enough to claim that they had achieved it on their own merit. How many times have we done something well and claimed all of the credit. I have many times. Now that I sit here and think about that, I am a little embarrassed. I should be. We all should be. Give God the credit in all things. Give Him the Glory!
1. You are not the same person you used to be.
2. You have no business going where you used to go.
3. You don't need everything you thought you would need.
2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest in me."
Something that Priscilla points out is that nothing is a coincidence. NOTHING. The people that are in your life, the people that aren't. The house you live in and the church you attend. The strangers that you chat with along your day. It is all on purpose. She suggests that God has made us responsible to them. We are responsible for acting in a Christ like manner. We need to love on these people and care for them as Christ would. That is huge, ladies. Take that to heart and do your best to be your best for God. We are to be His example here on earth. Remember that we are all going through something and sometimes, most times, we could use just a little kindness.
Here is your challenge. Keep a journal of the God Moments. If you feel like sharing some in the comments section that would be welcomed. Through out this study I have had a few God moments. It is almost as if He was pointing at me and saying, "Randi, you need to hear this. Take this message in and marinate on it." I do not feel comfortable putting those moments out on the internet but these moments have not been lost on me. I will write them down and a few scraps of paper:). I love you ladies and I will see you tomorrow!
