Good morning Ladies!
As I was working on today's study I was really feeling convicted. I have never met Priscilla Shirer but I am sure that she wrote this directly to me. Anybody else feel like that?
Threshing is used as an illustration many times in the Bible. Chaff, the light and airy part of the grain that is useless and void of nutrients is removed during this process. It symbolizes removing things from our lives that are useless. I know there are parts of my life that I should remove like chaff. How about you?
One page 46 Priscilla asks us to list 5 ordinary tasks that we perform daily. I listed the following: 1. Laundry
2. Dishes
3. Cleaning
4. emails
5. Floors
In the scripture it talks about the angel of the Lord appearing to Gideon in a very ordinary circumstance. He was doing his daily duty of threshing the wheat. I wonder if the angel of the Lord would ever appear to me while I was folding laundry? Considering this question, I think I should probably do laundry without griping. The study asks us to think of all of our tasks as preparing us for our future work for the Kingdom of the Lord.
Leviticus 26:3-5
3 “‘If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, 4 I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit. 5 Your
threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will
continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land.
Joel 2:24
4 The threshing floors will be filled with grain;
the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.
Even though there is chaos all around Gideon the Lord has still blessed His people with wheat to thresh. But do not mistake God's faithfulness with His approval.
After reading the 'Principle of Abundance and Oppression' I had a few 'ah ha!' moments.
Moment #1- Oppression and abundance can coexist in the lives of God's people
Moment #2- 'The harvest that God routinely allowed Israel's farmers to retain was not a sign of God's approval; it was a sign of His loyalty.
Moment #3- God is still faithful to us even when we are faithless
Moment #4- God's faithfulness does not signify God's approval.
Let us not get the above truths confused. Ladies, I equate this to when my kids do something I don't like. They still get to eat dinner but I am not happy about what they have done. I love them either way. Instead I show my love and guidance to get them back in line. Ah ha! I hope today's lesson was as beneficial for you as it was for me. See you tomorrow. Love you ladies.
